Tips for Professional Video Conferences

Video conferencing might mean you aren't in the same room as the other meeting participants, but it doesn't mean that it is any more casual than a face-to-face meeting. Before your video conference in Palo Alto, watch this video for advice on looking your best in the remote meeting set-up.

When you conduct a meeting using video conferencing, make sure you still dress in a professional manner, as though you were having a face-to-face meeting. If you are not using a professional videographer but rather a laptop, stack it on a box so that the camera is eye level, and keep it a little more than arm's length from your face. Lighting, such as a window or lamp, should be in front of you, not to the side or back, so you look natural. Use a professional background, such as a bookshelf, and avoid having any activity going on behind you, which can be distracting.
